Brent Policies & Procedures
Brent LSCB has developed a number of policies that all agencies working with children are recommended to follow and these policies can be found below.
Model Child Protection Policy
Brent LSCB has developed this policy to assist all organisations in developing their own child protection policy.
Safer Recruitment
Safe Recruitment is a critically important area for any agency that works with children and young people - either in a paid or voluntary capacity. Brent LSCB have developed a leaflet which highlights key areas that need to be addressed in the 'recruitment and selection' process.
We must all ensure that we guard against the minority of prospective applicants who pose a risk to children and young people.
Managing Allegations Against Staff
Brent LSCB has produced these procedures based on the framework for dealing with allegations of abuse made against a person who works with children, detailed in Chapter 6 and Appendix 5 of Working Together 2006. They should be followed by all organisations providing services for children and young people.
These procedures should be applied when there is an allegation or concern that any person who works with children, in connection with his/her employment or voluntary activity, has:
- Behaved in a way that has harmed a child, or may have harmed a child
- Possibly committed a criminal offence against or related to a child
- Behaved towards a child or children in a way that indicates s/he is unsuitable to work with children.
Managing Allegations Against Staff
Brent LSCB has developed this protocol as part of our learning from serious cases and from business plan priorities. The protocol has been developed by a task group of multi-agency operational managers to ensure that the needs of unborn children are identified and responded to as early as possible in order to achieve the best outcome for them.
Restraint Guidance
These guidelines have been produced by Brent LSCB and are meant to assist staff working with young people deal effectively with challenging behaviour.
Brent Child Death Arrangements & Rapid Response Protocol - Interim Arrangements
Brent LSCB has produced some interim arrangements for the response to all Child Deaths in the borough. These arrangements will be reviewed by the LSCB in 2010.
Uncollected or Abandoned Children
Brent LSCB is currently reviewing this policy and the finalised policy will be published in 2010.
