Brent LSCB & Esafety
Brent is one of the front runners of Esafety across the country. This is largely due to the extensive work in this area which has been, and continues to be carried out by the LSCB Esafety Sub-committee in delivering the LSCB Esafety Strategy.

ESafety in Brent
Throughout the borough work is being done to ensure that children, young people, parents, carers and practitioners are aware of the risks and benefits of the internet while providing valuable resources to the community about esafety and how it affects children and young people in the borough.
As part of the Brent Local Safeguarding Children Board Esafety Strategy, practitioners in Brent have access to:
- Staff insets for staff and temporary employees
- Support with document revisions and development for organisations with Acceptable Use Policies and Esafety documents
- Training Days
- Esafety awareness materials
- Access to practitioners ‘tool kits’ and additional resources
- The online practitioner network, www.connectfutures.org.uk
Getting involved in your organisation
To get involved in schools
Ask about the Brent Esafety School Support Programme, and whether your school is already involved. If not, ask the Head teacher about getting involved.
Once your school is involved, teachers and staff will have access to staff insets, full day training on Esafety and staff protection, student assemblies, access to Esafety materials and resources, support with developing Esafety documents and policies in the school, and parent workshops.
To get involved in Children Centres:
Ask about the Brent Esafety Support Programme for Children Centres and whether your centre is already involved. If not, ask the manager about getting involved.
Once your centre is involved, staff will have access to staff insets, full day training on Esafety and staff protection, access to Esafety materials and resources, support with developing Esafety documents and policies in the centre, and parent workshops which can cover setting up parental controls, computer time and understanding the internet and technologies.
For practitioners not in Schools or Children Centres:
More information about accessing support with developing an Esafety Strategy in your agency or organisation can be obtained from the LSCB Esafety Co-ordinator.
Esafety training is available to the following practitioners:
- Teachers (including, but not limited to, ICT and Child Protection teachers)
- Staff in schools
- Managers and Staff in Children Centres
- Health Practitioners
- City Learning Centre Staff
- Staff working with young people engaged in activities such as the Brent Youth Parliament and Brent Youth Matters
- Teachers and staff working with Pupil Referral Units
- Social Workers
- Staff working with young offenders
- Staff working with young people who are vulnerable (including issues around mental health)
- Staff working with children with disabilities
- Internet Cafe employees
- Professional trainers
- Foster Carer trainers/ Foster Carers
- LSCB practitioners
- Multi-Faith organisations
